"As its name suggests, Ribs is composed of a series of arching forms over a movable aluminium spine. In 1998 I wanted to learn about moulding plywood so I made the first version of Ribs in timber. But the form lends itself to many possible materials. Over the years it has been used in so many different environments and I have liked it in every single one.
I have fond memories of designing Ribs. Getting the geometry right so that it forms a straight edge if both ends are moved to the same side, while at the same time making sure it retains its organic appearance was challenging but fun." - Stefan Lie, Designer.
