The Furnace is a boutique advertising agency founded in 2006. This 500sqm fitout was achieved in a short time frame and with a modest budget. The aim of the design was to reflect the agencies culture, which promotes social engagement, artistic freedom and experimentation.
Gold fire extinguishers in the reception are a play on The Furnace’s name. They also relate to the idea of Alchemy, or the process of transformation and transmutation. This concept addresses the transformation of existing ideas and everyday concepts into something new – a principle that relates closely to advertising and The Furnace’s work. Large artworks, hand painted on walls and floors by Melbourne based illustrator Rudi De Wet, reinforce the concept of transformation and add an element of whimsy to the overall space. Bespoke laser cut frames are used to showcase some of The Furnace’s award winning work.
